20th-Annual Winter Lighting Ceremony

Wednesday, November 21

The Heart of the City shines bright each year with hundreds of thousands of lights celebrating the winter holidays – and it all starts at the annual Winter Lighting Ceremony. For 20 years, community members have flocked to Nicollet Commons park the night before Thanksgiving to light the more than 200,000 mini lights, 230 streetlight snowflakes and a 30-foot-tall tree.

Ceremony attendees can visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, listen to entertainment by local school choirs, and witness the “flip of the switch” that lights up Burnsville’s downtown with holiday spirit.

The Winter Lighting Ceremony is sponsored and paid for by the Burnsville Community Foundation through generous donations by more than 300 area businesses and residents. Free parking is available at the Heart of the City Park and Ride Ramp and the Heart of the City Parking Deck.
