Composting in City Facilities

The organic waste collected from the buildings is brought to a local organics recycling facility to be turned into compost. Compost improves soil quality, reduces erosion, reduces greenhouse gases and decreases the need for chemical fertilizers.

Organics recycling is now available at Burnsville City Hall, the Police Department, Ames Center, Burnsville Ice Center and the Burnsville Maintenance Facility.

By taking this important environmental step, these City facilities now have the ability to recycle and compost nearly 90 percent of their waste.
