What methods of payment are accepted for permits?
The City of Burnsville accepts cash, check or credit card payments. You may pay at City hall or, to pay with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover credit card, contact us at 952-895-4444.

What methods of payment are accepted for permits?
The City of Burnsville accepts cash, check or credit card payments. You may pay at City hall or, to pay with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover credit card, contact us at 952-895-4444.

Do I need to make an appointment to get a plan review or submit a permit application?
No appointment is necessary to apply for permits. Simply drop off the completed permit application, and any corresponding plans or documents, at the front counter of City Hall, or e-mail your entire submission to
permits@burnsvillemn.gov
.

When is a permit required?
- Building a deck, porch, shed (accessory bldg)
- Replacing windows, patio doors, siding, roof
- Adding a garage, room addition
- Remodeling a kitchen, bath, basement
- Adding or making changes to any existing electrical, heating, plumbing
- Appliance replacements including--but not limited to--water heater, water softener, dishwasher, furnace and air conditioner
- Installing lawn irrigation systems
- Swimming pool installation or demolition
- Building a retaining wall that is 4 feet or greater in height when measured vertically from the footing to the top of the wall

When is a permit not required?
When only "cosmetic" changes are being made. Cosmetic changes include replacement of cabinets, counter tops, flooring and appliances that do not need additional plumbing or electrical changes.
- Fences that are 7 ft. in height or less.
