Fall Recreation Opportunities

This fall/winter, Burnsville residents of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of new events to help ease the cold-weather blues.

Glo Run

Neon letters that say Glo Run and neon starsMoms, dads, kids and all ages are invited to a “Run in the Dark at Lac Lavon Park.” Participants will receive glowing items before the race. Runners can wear their own neon attire for extra fun and glow. Neon signs and lights throughout the course will guide runners on a one-mile route. All registered participants will receive a t-shirt.
Who: All Ages
When:  Friday, Sept. 28
6 p.m.: Music & carnival games; 7:30 p.m.: Glo Run
Where: Lac Lavon Park, 15501 Lac Lavon Drive
Cost: Preregistration (before Friday, Sept. 28 at noon): $12
Onsite registration: $15
Kids 3 and under are FREE

Fall Colors Walk
Adults ages 62+ are invited to take a stroll through an autumn-painted forest on a crisp fall day. Alimagnet Park presents a colorful show of maple, oak and other vivid-leaved trees. Participants will learn about forest tree species and the science behind their dazzling displays.
Who: Ages 62+
When:  Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 10-11 a.m.
Where: Alimagnet Park, 1200 Alimagnet Drive
Cost: FREE

MEA Day of Play
While the teachers need to stay, the kids get away for a day of play. Students and friends are invited on a fun tour around Burnsville, including stops at Skateville, the Burnsville High School gym for large group activities, a corn maze and more.
Who: Ages 11-14
When:  Thursday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: THE GARAGE, 75 Civic Center Parkway
Cost: $45

Youth Hip Hop Dance
Three teenage girls perform a hip hop dance on stageKids ages 10 to 14 are invited to learn funk and hip-hop patterns used by professional dancers. Each class will focus on a different dance technique; breaking down dance patterns into easy-to-learn sections; and working as a team to create dance choreography. The last day will serve as a performance day for family and friends.
Who: Ages 10-14
When:  Mondays, Oct. 29-Dec. 10 from 6-7 p.m.
Where: THE GARAGE, 75 Civic Center Parkway
Cost: $35
Registration Deadline: Monday, Oct. 29 at noon
