Please Note: Due to warm weather, all outdoor ice rinks have closed for the season.
2016 Skating Season
After a warm December that postponed the skating season, rinks opened on Jan. 4, 2016. Rinks and warming houses will operate during the hours listed below. Ice conditions are expected to be fair but not perfect. Park maintenance staff will continue improving ice conditions as the weather gets colder.
Burnsville has 13 park locations that offer outdoor skating. Warming houses are located at 12 sites (West Buck Hill offers a pleasure rink only).
Rinks are open for skating (weather permitting) during regular park hours (5 a.m. to 10 p.m.). Rink lights are on, warming houses are open and the facilities are supervised by City staff (with the exception of the rink at West Buck Hill) ONLY during specified hours. (See below.)
No hockey or broomball games are allowed unless specified. Wednesday nights are designated as "Open Hockey" nights and rinks may not be reserved for hockey practices.
During heavy snow, rinks are maintained according to their classifications. Please note, on a weekend with a snow event, the staffed outdoor skating rinks will close after one inch or more of snow has accumulated. Warming houses will close when temperatures and/or wind chill reach negative 19 degrees or colder.
